Yoga
Practices tailored to your individual needs, so you can incorporate yoga into your daily life.
A Sòlas Yoga yoga session is an invitational, choice-based practice designed to foster a safe and welcoming environment where you are encouraged to show up exactly as you are.
Throughout the session, the language used is non-prescriptive, reminding you that it is your practice and there is no right or wrong way to move. Whether you choose to follow the guided practices or simply rest for the hour, the goal is to cultivate nonreactive awareness and equanimity in the face of stress.
I have a special interest in offering yoga to those who work or volunteer in the health, community care, and charity sectors, as well those who work in roles that may bring them into contact with vulnerable populations such as teachers and family lawyers.
Each session is centered on four distinct but related themes: compassion (karuna), loving-kindness (metta), contentment (santosha), and delight (lila).
While sessions are tailored to the needs of participants, they typically follow this format:
Grounding: The session begins with a practice to help you "arrive" in the space and gather any necessary props.
Movement & Breath: This includes warm-up movements, intentional breathing techniques, flow sequences and static postures (‘Vin-Yin’ style). These are designed to cultivate presence and regulate the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic response.
Restorative Rest: The practice concludes with a period of rest to support holistic healing and integration.
